Kareena Kapoor signalled her arrival in Bollywood with the biggest possible bang, working in the Karan Johar film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in her very first year. But the relationship between the two soured since, and after working with Preity Zinta in Kal Ho Naa Ho, KJo hasn’t directed Kareena ever again. He insists, however, that Bebo remains his favourite.
“Kareena is the numero uno heroine in Bollywood today, and the fact is that she and Karan are the best of friends,” says an insider, adding, “After a brief fallout, things have again become great. Though Karan is yet to direct her again, Kareena has obliged by stepping in as leading lady in his productions like Kurbaan, We Are Family and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.”
While everyone is still waiting for the two to work together again, the people at Dharma Productions are clear that Kareena will remain their first choice heroine regardless of the director. “Kareena is the in-house heroine for us. Period. Everyone at Dharma Productions is pretty much in sync with that, and that was the case with Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu as well. Director Shakun Batra and co-writer Ayesha Devitre did write the film keeping Kareena in mind,” avers Karan himself.

Rohit Shetty a Kareena fan
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who worked with Kareena Kapoor in "Golmaal Returns" and "Golmaal 3", is all praise for the actress.
"She is one of the finest actors we have in our country. She is a natural actor and she understands cinema very well which is very important. For me Kareena is a diva," said the 38-year-old director at the Big Star Entertainment awards.
His last film "Singham" was a blockbuster. Meanwhile, Shetty is busy shooting for his new film "Bol Bachchan", starring Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.

Did they fake it or was it for real? Arch rivals Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra yet again did an all is well act at the entertainment awards event in Andheri on Sunday night
It was PC who made the first move and couldn't resist giving Bebo a warm hug. The Kapoor girl taken unawares was forced to extend a warm hug too.
Everyone in Bollywood knows that the two stars are not on talking terms. Professional rivalry apart, there is also a personal angle. Bebo's ex flame Shahid Kapoor had an on-off relationship with PC.
Both the actresses avoid being seen together at the same place and at the same time. And in the past, there have been instances of how one would avoid having a run on with the other.
Says a source, "Kareena arrived late and made her way to the reserved table. For a while she was sitting alone. Later director Madhur Bhandarkar was seen with her at the table. Meanwhile PC was seated a few tables away waiting for her performance.
Says an onlooker, "As soon as she saw Kareena seated, Priyanka walked up to her and bent over her to give her a warm hug. Bebo reciprocated. For a few moments they exchanged niceties and PC went back to her seat."
Adds the onlooker, "Everyone was taken by surprise by PC's move." Last year, at the annual police mela PC had apparently gone up to Bebo and said, "Let's forget what has happened and begin anew." Both had also danced together on stage with Shah Rukh Khan.
But the buzz that did the rounds at that time was that Bebo had given PC her famous Poo look (from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum) meaning 'Whatever!' and continued with what she was doing.
At that time, it did not look like the Kapoor girl was in the mood to forget. Did she this time? Time will tell.

Kareena isn't uncomfortable about doing 'Heroine'
'Heroine' is progressing well and Madhur Bhandarkar can well consider himself to be second time lucky as he had suffered an aborted shoot with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the same film early this year. Now with Kareena Kapoor giving her full time, energy and dedication into living the coveted, it is pretty much akin to destiny playing a major role with the film falling in her lap.
While for Kareena the film is indeed absolutely special, one wonders that since the film had earlier started with Aishwarya, was it a little uncomfortable for her to give a nod of approval when it eventually came her way?
"See, actors do a film on the basis of a script that comes their way instead of thinking about whether it had reached another actor is doing or not," Kareena makes a stern statement here, "Also, let's not forget that Madhur has offered this film first to me as good as one and a half years ago. When I couldn't do it, he went ahead with someone else. Now for whatever reasons it didn't work out for me, there is no role that I have to play. The fact that Madhur came to me again and I am doing it because it is a great film is all that matters."
Well said, lady!
